One of my favorite times of the year is coming to an end. It is now a few days after New Years’ and it is now 2021. This is the time I like to reflect back on different parts of my life throughout the year. This year we ended up with mandatory mask laws and regulations that put people in prison for not wearing a cloth over their face. We saw people realize they had bad breath because of it and we also saw a ton of presidential election fraud. What a time we are living in but it is also a time to think about ways to not only change what we did in 2020 but to look at ways to do our best for ourselves in 2021. I am not talking about major huge changes, but I do like to think about my health and what habits I could incorporate to make my life a little better now and especially in the long run. This year one of the topics that came to mind in my own life was my dental care. It has indeed been a hard process of elimination and I know that my teeth could use some more help.
So, what do I do know that I feel that my teeth some more work? Well, that is pretty simple and yet very complicated all at once. There are so many ways to help your own dental care and the first one is to make sure you are making the best habits for yourself. What I mean is that we all are different and have specialized needs. So to find out what those needs are we need to see a professional so we can work on making the best habits.

Go see a dentist. Make it a habit of scheduling a time to see them once or preferably twice a year to make sure you are not harming your body by treating your teeth poorly. Many major issues can start from tooth decay and gum disease so avoiding those issues is important and can save you from lots of heartaches. So schedule up a time and then set your habits based on that information.
If you are not going to see a dentist then at least follow the best practices of dental care. This is known to many but implemented by fewer. The American Dental Association has made it clear that we need to brush our teeth at least twice a day. We should all be using a very good hi in fluoride toothpaste as adults and a lower concentrated version for kids. But the most important part is that we are brushing for enough time on each one of those bi-daily brushes. We need to spend 2 minutes going over all of our teeth to make sure all those cavity-causing particles are gone. It is indeed important that we are taking the correct amount of time.

Now that we know the first major thing we should do each day issue is implementing it. I know that for myself it was easy to make a habit stick with a strong routine. I ended up setting an alarm to help protect my own body. I used my cell phone and set it up two times a day to brush for 30 days. That is how you create a solid habit.
